Welcome!
→ My name is Milannys Piñero, I’m an elite athlete and made part of the national Taekwondo team in Puerto Rico. In 2020, I was the national sub-champion of -46kg. This page is dedicated to the sport of Taekwondo in hopes I can share some of my knowledge, news, and all else with others.
It’s all about discipline
The sport Taekwondo is one of the most systematic and scientific traditional Korean martial arts, teaching more than physical combat skills. This sport is a discipline that teaches ways to improve our spirit and life through the training of our body and mind.
Kyrougi
In our sport we have to offer combat, defined as a free-form fight between two people…
- A competitor wears red, Hong, and the other blue, Chong.
- You depend on your belt and age to fight with kicks on the face or compete with electronic equipment.
- The objective is to have more points than your opponent, in generally two rounds, each one 1:30 time.
- Points are usually scored with electronic equipment.
Poomsae
But we also have to offer forms, defined as a pattern which include attacks and defense.
- These benefit your breathing control, flexibility, balance and technical ability.
- Inside poomsae there are 8 taegeuks, these are different types of patterns learned to up your belt.
- Arriving the last taegeuk, you’re offically a black-belt, and now have to face the Dan, which are 10.
- You can compete against other people, and the winner is chosen by judges.
For both sides of Taekwondo there’s a uniform, and equipment. Find out what you’d need from any of these sites
